I.                    Emma Thompson, Hollywood Reporter Actress Roundtable November 2013

On having to make personal sacrifices for her acting career:

“Oh. Umm, umm I don’t think so, I don’t think so. I think we are terribly lucky. To even bring up the phrase per… sacrifice in relation to our lives.  Is slightly obscene I’d of thought.  We’re so lucky to be working and working women, making our own living. (Then in response to Octavia Spencer saying she doesn’t have children by her choice.)  And I by the way think it’s very important that there are women who don’t have children in the world and it’s very important for children to know people and in particularly women who don’t have children I think it’s a very important role. Yes, yes I mean I feel very uncomfortable about that (personal sacrifice). I mean unless you know,  one had for instance played someone who didn’t have legs and one chose to remove one’s legs, that would be a personal sacrifice worth mentioning, I think.
